
Pre-Op Instructions
Food/Drink
- Nothing by mouth after midnight. Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight, as it can cause complications with anesthesia.
Medication
- Please take blood pressure, heart medicine, antidepressant and stomach medication (i.e. heartburn or acid reflux medication) the morning of surgery with a small sip of water.
- If diabetic, bring your medicine with you. DO NOT TAKE THEM THE MORNING OF SURGERY.
- Do not take any ibuprofen, aspirin, or anticoagulants prior to surgery.
- If you use inhalers, bring them with you.
Dress
- Take a bath or shower before arriving.
- Wear loose comfortable clothing.
- Do not wear make up, jewelry, perfume, or contact lenses.
Leave/Bring
- Bring your insurance card, driver’s license, and co-insurance payment with you.
- Please leave any other valuables at home.
- A responsible adult must bring you, stay in the building with you, and drive you home.
Women
- If you are of child bearing age and have not had a hysterectomy we will need a urine specimen.
Children
- If your child has a favorite stuffed animal or toy they may bring it with them.
